EIGHT LIMBS OF YOGA OR THE ROYAL PATH

The Eight Limbs of yoga are guidelines to help you live a more meaningful life. Following these guidelines will help you become more self-disciplined and content, allowing you to live a life filled with purpose.
1. Yama – restraints
The five yamas are:
Ahimsa: nonviolence
Satya: truthfulness
Asteya: nonstealing
Brahmacharya: continence
Aparigraha: noncovetousness
2. Niyama – observances
The five niyamas are:
Saucha: cleanliness
Santosha: contentment
Tapas: heat, discipline
Svadhyaya: self study
Ishvara pranidhana: surrender to the divine
3.Asana – physical postures
4.Pranayama – control over the breath
5.Prathyhara – withdrawal of the senses
6.Dharana – one pointed focus, concentration
7.Dhyana – meditation, contemplation, turning within
8.Samadhi – bliss
